Author of the month - Tomie dePaola

This month, we want to introduce to you about Tomie dePaola (born September 15, 1934 in Meriden, Connecticut) is one of today's most recognized names in the world of children's literature. His charming characters and distinctive artistic style make his picture books appealing to both children and adults. He has published folktales, nursery rhymes, board books, religious books, chapter books, and more. All in all, dePaola has illustrated over 200 children's books and written stories for nearly half of them. He received the Children's Literature Legacy Award for his lifetime contribution to American children's literature in 2011 and has won numerous awards, including the Caldecott Honor Award, the Newbery Honor Award.

Tomie dePaola now lives in New Hampshire in a large renovated 200-year-old barn with his four dogs.
