Reading Culture Ambassador contest 2024

I. PURPOSE

- Reading Culture Ambassador Contest is an activity for students from elementary to high school, in order to arouse a passion for reading among young people, thereby encouraging, promoting reading movement among young generation, forming reading habits and skills for students, an important factor contributing to the development of reading culture in schools and communities; arouse the desire to contribute and develop the country.

- Through the contest affirming the position, the great role of reading culture in contributing to raising people's intellectual level, developing thinking and creativity, fostering personality and soul, enhancing the sense of acceptance. enforce the law, form a healthy lifestyle for the young generation, and promote the building of a learning society.

II. CONTEST TOPICS

Students participate in the competition by selecting one of the two corresponding options for each educational level, specifically:

For Primary and Secondary school level:

Option 1:

Question 1: Among the works you have read, which character has inspired you towards a positive lifestyle, demonstrated responsibility to society, awakened the desire for contribution, and the development of the nation?

Question 2: Develop an action plan to promote reading culture for yourself and the community, especially targeting children in remote areas, ethnic minorities, and children with print disability. (Specify the goal, beneficiaries, content of activities, and expected outcomes).

Option 2:

Question 1: Write a continuation for a story or book you have read to promote a love of reading, instill responsibility towards oneself, family, society, and foster pride in the nation and love for the homeland.

Question 2: Develop an action plan to promote reading culture for yourself and the community, especially targeting children in remote areas, ethnic minorities, and children with print disability. (Specify the goal, beneficiaries, content of activities, and expected outcomes).

For Highschool level:

Option 1:

Question 1: Which work has inspired, raised awareness, encouraged positive living, social responsibility, and fostered determination to contribute to the prosperous and happy development of Vietnam?

Question 2: Write an initiative to promote reading among various groups: residents in border areas, islands, economically and socially challenged regions, ethnic minorities, elderly people, and print disability individuals. (State the objectives, beneficiaries, content of work performed, expected results achieved. Encourage initiatives that have been applied in practice and have evidence).

Option 2:

Question 1: Write a literary work (short story) to spread the love of reading, thereby awakening responsibility towards oneself, family, society, fostering pride in the nation, and love for the homeland.

Question 2: Write an initiative to promote reading among various groups: residents in border areas, islands, economically and socially challenged regions, ethnic minorities, elderly people, and print disability individuals. (State the objectives, beneficiaries, content of work performed, expected results achieved. Encourage initiatives that have been applied in practice and have evidence).

III. REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBMISSIONS

1. Examination Content:

- Entries must respond comprehensively to the two questions provided in the examination paper, which should adhere to the principles of morality, transparency, and be aligned with Vietnamese cultural traditions. Entries should ensure accuracy, information security, and compliance with relevant laws.

- Shared books in the entries must be clearly introduced with full publication sources.

2. Format:

- Each participant must submit an independent entry (not group work), presented in Vietnamese or bilingual English-Vietnamese. Entries can be in either of the following formats:

- Written (typed or handwritten): Entries should not exceed 5,000 words (15 typed pages).

- Video: Minimum duration is 5 minutes, maximum is 10 minutes, with the use of effects and visual/audio quality to ensure a minimum resolution of 480px and frame size of 854x480 or higher. Videos should be saved in common formats such as .mp4, .avi, .mpeg, .mkv, .klv, etc., and suitable for uploading to YouTube.

3. Additional Requirements:

- Entries must be original creations of the participants (videos must be personally performed by the participants, including narration and storytelling), not previously exhibited, displayed, published on print or digital platforms, or submitted to any other competition.

- Use of content, excerpts, quotes, images, etc., from others in the entries must be properly cited. Videos using images, songs, or audio must adhere to intellectual property rights regulations. Participants are responsible for any legal disputes related to copyright infringement.

- Entries submitted will not be returned to participants. The Organizing Committee may use the submitted works for promotional purposes and to support reading promotion activities, without assuming responsibility for any copyright disputes related to the entries.

4. Time & Location:

- From April 17, 2024, to May 10, 2024.

- Submission of entries at the Primary Library (Unit 2.3) and Secondary Library (Unit 2.8).
