Subject bibliography about “Japanese literature”

Japanese literature is one of the world's oldest and richest nationalist literatures that arose in the vast population of the Japanese tribes from the dawn of time, long before the nation of Japan established. The roots of this literature go back to antiquity, and the first written masterpieces can be dated to the 7th century even earlier.

The history of Japanese literature can be divided into 3 main periods: Ancient, Medieval and Modern, which is equivalent to the way of historical divergence common in many world literatures in general.
